Site Assessment and Monitoring Unit 

Following recommendations from Les Assises de la Recherche et de l'Innovation 2022, three units have been set up, one of which is the Site Assessment and Monitoring Unit. 

The purpose of these visits is to establish rapport and trust with the project leaders and to assess the progress being made during implementation of projects. Such visits are especially important when working with new project leaders, as they provide an opportunity to verify the information provided in the application forms, to identify any challenges or risks that may affect the project implementation, and to offer guidance and support to the project team.  

Since August 2023, a number of site visits have been conducted by the Site Assessment and Monitoring Unit along with Research Coordinators and other Research Assistants of the MRIC.

  2. Inovanet Smart Energy Ltd - Application of IoT in Telematics Insurance (Thematic Area: Financial Innovation

  3. High Performance Centre Cote d'Or - The Sport and Performance Nutrition Centre Project (Thematic Area: Health and Wellness Innovation

  4. FAREI - Building capacity to determine optimal post-harvest and processing practices for the production of quality cocoa beans and fine flavoured cocoa derived products in Mauritius (Thematic Area: Blue and Green Innovation

  5. Island Media Services Ltd – This is Mauritius (Thematic area: Travel, Tourism and Entertainment Innovation

  6. Restit Ltee - Intelligent Platform for Online Learning (Thematic Area: IT, Emerging and Enabling Innovation) 

  7. NanoSAIO Ltd - Sales management information system (MIS) (Thematic Area: Financial Innovation

Overall, the visits were highly informative and provided essential elements to helping our project leaders, improving our current schemes and developing our future schemes through feedback received. Follow-up meetings are conducted when progress is made on these projects.
